QuickTime has been designed for the Mac and there are often complaints from Windows PC users that it comes with many unwanted extras, takes up too much memory and will associate all media files on the PC with this player.  However, Quicktime has a text track for closed captioning on Mac OSX and videos can be played with magnification without degradation.  Quicktime player also has keyboard shortcuts.
