Sony Ericsson uses a variety of operating systems such as Windows mobile, Symbian and it may use Google Android in the future, but on the Z610i it uses a Java based system.  It has a very good set of time management tools with alarms, calendar, tasks, notes, calculator, timer, stopwatch and synchronisation with a PC. The PC Suite software is compatible with PCs running Windows 2000 or later. There are games, video, photo and music applications plus a sound recorder.

The fonts and colours used with the software cannot be changed other than as part of a theme, but it is possible to reset sounds and alerts, ring volume  and increase vibration and have an alert message response.
