"The school set up a wiki for us to use when we had a group project in my second year - it was brilliant because it meant we could work as a group remotely because we had people from Jersey and the Isle of Wight.

It was easy to use and I do not remember having any issues with it all, but it is important to save your additions, as you can just preview and if you switch off without saving you have to do it all again!"

wikipedia edit modeWikipedia has a useful sandbox for experimenting with wikis. They also have instructions on how to edit a wiki.

Tips for writing in wikis:

  • Use a spell checker!
  • Break up the text so there are no more than 5 lines in a block if possible - this makes for easy reading later!
  • It may help to use Notepad for creating text and copying it into the wiki later in case you forget to save as you go along and accidentally switch to another web page!
