Strategy: Soft Keys when taking notes in a lecture

"One of my own personal issues of using a computer in lectures was the noise generated from pressing keys, creating unwanted attention. With some thought, I was able to come up with a couple of ways of reducing this problem.
Soft keys.
Many, modern laptops now come with ‘soft keys’ and I recommend checking this before parting with your hard earned cash. If however, you have already purchased a laptop and suffer from this noise problem here is a suggestion. Purchase a standard desktop keyboard and plug it into your laptop when using in lectures. It does not have to be a full size keyboard (helping to keep a good portability level), but should have USB support to allow you to connect the keyboard to your laptop/desktop (or switch between the two)."
"One keyboard I recommend for being ultra quiet is the Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000. The keys are very light and are soft to touch, reducing noise dramatically - reducing unwanted attention."

"One problem I had in lectures was using a laptop for note taking. Pressing the keys can cause a lot of unwelcome noise, and can be a distraction for other peers in the lecture theatre."
