Strategy: Screen dulled down and blue
7 Keywords: Dull Screen, Glare, Back On White, Dyslexia, Scotopic Sensitiviity, Myers Irlen Syndrome, Bright
When I was working with a support tutor "we found out that if I put a blue overlay over white paper, I can last longer reading it. So knowing that now I picked a dark colour so it didn't give me a headache."
If you want to change the background of your documents you can do this with desktop changes but if you want the whole screen to change you need to change the monitor settings. It can be done on an LCD screen by going to the Control Panel if you are using Windows XP it is Display - Properties and the Settings tab or in Vista it is Appearance and Personalization - screen resolution and advanced settings - then depending on the monitor go to the graphics properties and you may be able to change the colour correction. The screen grabs show how it would appear with Intel Graphics Media.

"Because with my dyslexia, bright colours give me a headache. I dull it [the screen] down so that I can sit at a computer for a lot longer... I get headaches when I drive at night, as well."

Think about more fine tuning try using ClearType Font Smoothing in Windows - Windows XP Desktop - Properties - Appearance Tab - Effects button. In Vista Desktop - Personalise - Window Color and Appearance - classic view - Effects
