Dropbox sharing files

"Dropbox allows any of the files stored on your computer to be copied online so that there is a backup copy. This can be taken further by setting certain files or folders to be shared with other people, which makes working on collaborative projects easy.

computer labEmailing documents between group members creates redundant copies of the same document, which one user might be updating when someone else sends a copy that they have updated themselves to everybody else. This causes version control problems, and increases the stress of group projects.

By using Dropbox, a folder can be created that stores the relevant files for a project. The creator can then invite the other group members to share that folder. Each user can then synchronize that folder so that they always receive the most update version on their own computer. When they update the file themselves, then everybody else automatically receives their updates. The files now can't be lost if the computer that they're stored on breaks, because they are stored safely online and available to every member.

With an account set up, you can then create your own private folders where you can copy your own files and have them backed up online, and there is also the option to synchronize them with any other computers you own.
