The Sony Ericsson has its only desktop settings.  To add a note go to Organize > Notes > New note - add and enter the note, then select the note and choose show in standby.  The three pictures below show the phone screen with the note ready to write, the second picture shows the note being saved and the seletion of standby mode and finally the note as wallpaper on the phone screen.
