"If your Dictaphone has an index button, press it once when the lecturer says something you don't understand. This will set a marker point in the recording. When you go to listen to that lecture, press FF [Fast Forward] and it will take you to the marker point. All you have to do then is rewind a little to the start of the hard stuff. You can set more than one marker point in a recording."
"During recordings, try plugging you headphones into your Dictaphone, you should be able to hear exactly what the Dictaphone is recording. This can also help you hear the lecturer more clearly if you are in a noisy environment and if your Dictaphone is doing some form of noise cancelling. Word of warning, don't put the buds of the headphones near the device - this can result in a screechy feedback loop on your recording!"

"If I keep a lecture because it has 1 or 2 minutes of explanation that I didn't understand, it is inconvenient to go through the entire lecture trying to find that two minutes. It is also disappointing to find a carefully made recording ruined by some background noise you weren't even aware of!" - TeresaTip
