PDF magnified"...I have difficulties when it comes to things like on the undergraduate site how to reference was available as a PDF and as this PowerPoint with voice, but on the postgrad site it is only available with PowerPoint with voice, which is too small.  I’m going to ask if they can stick a handout on the site, because it will be useful for other people as well. Lots of people are working from home and downloading a PowerPoint with a load of audio is difficult…"

The screen grabs taken from the reference guide on Harvard show that font smoothing is good in Adobe Reader and the text can be enlarged beyond 400%.   However, in PowerPoint although the text can be zoomed to 400% in edit mode it does not stay that size when seen in the Viewer and additional magnification is needed.

Quote

"...I still have real difficulty taking articles in and listening to them rather than reading them. I should listen to them because it’s much faster than reading them, but it doesn’t end up faster, because I have to listen through so many times. I am not an auditory learner in the first place."

Tip

Font smoothing in Adobe Reader is good but you may want it for all your document reading.  Microsoft Windows offers it for XP and Vista with ClearTypeApple Mac also has font handling and you can change font smoothing in Safari.
