Online discussion is a positive experience for me.  I use Opera rather than Internet Explorer, and to go back a page – right click and a left click, straight one after the other, that makes going back so much easier

Psyweb pageI’m more than happy working on-line through PsyWeb or Sussed.   Southampton University student portal

(Psyweb offers a way to present data using the Blackboard online environment)

My group hates doing things on-line where as I would prefer to sort everything out by email, but they prefer to have proper meetings.  I am in the hall of residence up a hill.  If it’s after lectures I don’t mind so much, but I do find it irritating otherwise.  No wonder my chair breaks down, especially in the rain!  I could invite them all round but I can’t fit everyone in my bedroom! When I was looking around it seemed most universities were on hills!"

"Blackboard was daunting at the time, but we were introduced to it  – and then it was self-taught.  I don’t feel that the university gave enough help initially.  Now I find it fine.  Have we been taught everything that will benefit me that Blackboard can do?  I don’t know.  We had the introduction in the second week.  At that point they were already sending emails saying “There has been a room change”.

Tip

The problem with online portals and collaborating online is that there are so many passwords required - check yours for their security or use Password Safe to organize passwords
