"You saw my CV! That was spell checked, but there were still ALOT of errors so I tend to ask for human help, but the worse thing is there is never enough to put on the CV... I think its just generally knowing how to start so I do a timeline ... like I've done since leaving school... I also use a template as that gives me a document map of headings or an outline automatically."
"Sometimes I start just jotting down things on paper and then put it into Word and I use Outlook and just print out the calendar and do it that way. I also use my 'People Page' [on the department website] where I put all the stuff I have done. It makes you separate out conferences, publications, etc., internal and external activiites when you enter the data."

The university website also has guidelines for writing a Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Quote
"CV's and application forms for jobs are always horrid to do, the Careers service check them for you down to the last comma but its difficult to write your first CV. Selling yourself and spelling and grammar are hard - they stand out SO much more on a CV as its a shorter document."

Download Microsoft Office templates if you cannot find a useful template on your own system, they may help you make documents using styles with headings and page numbers to help screen reader and keyboard users. Headings can provide an automatic table of contents.
